Laser Disinfection of Your Gums, It’s Good for Your Health

Billions of bacteria live under our gum. And the bacteria that do the most harm are anaerobic. Those are the bacteria that live without air. In fact, air can kill them so they will stay as far under the gum as possible. Unfortunately, even brushing properly and daily flossing doesn’t always reach deep enough nor does it get all the bacteria out.

Laser Bacterial Reduction Therapy

In using the Laser for bacteria reduction, a fiber is gently swept under your gums. The laser light comes out of the fiber killing the bacteria deep down where they live. Because the bacteria are microscopic, the laser required to kill them doesn’t hurt us at all, it is pain-free. This is so effective that within seconds the bacteria goes from billions down to hundreds. And because the laser is so effective, rather than hours, it takes four to six weeks for the bacteria to build back up to the pre-laser levels. This allows a great healing window.
